The Trip

After a relaxing sea diving session, I dressed up and packed my bag to go home. I commuted by a bus that day, as my car went for servicing, to reach home. On reaching, I took the lift to go to the 10th floor. As I stood in front on my door, I took out the keys from my bag and entered inside.

I saw straight into the kitchen, where my husband was standing , holding our cat in one hand and a knife in another. I judged too quickly that he was going to kill our cat.

On slowly walking towards them, I noticed that there was delicious smelling fresh tomato soup lying on the floor, a table arranged for two and a couch set with quilts.

“Honey, you’re here!”, said Rohit, while removing his apron stained with tomato soup. “I’ve got everything ready to celebrate”. My jaw dropped in surprise as I wasn’t sure how he remembered this year’s anniversary. As, I went to hug him, he said, “this is our last date, and I wanted to make it special.”.

Just then, I remembered that the next day we were going to adopt a child from an orphanage.
Rohit didn’t remember our anniversary but just happened to get lucky, I thought.
I smirked, while thinking how I was going to murder him if he had forgotten our anniversary this year.
He brought in the huge chicken that he baked on to the table, seated me on the chair and poured wine into our glasses. We toasted to a happy life with our child.

After we were done with everything that Rohit planned, we cleaned up, lazed on the couch and dozed off.
