World Food Day
The #WorldFoodDay has the theme of “Social protection and Agriculture” this year.
Social protection involves preventing, managing and overcoming situations that affect people’s well being.
In India, Government struggles to provide social protection to the underprivileged which leads to unemployment, poor health conditions and various other problems which ultimately leads to poverty i.e. lack of the basic necessities like food, clothing and shelter.
Agriculture is the backbone of Indian economy and employs 54.6% of total workforce. Most of the farmers that provide us with food dwell in poverty.
Why is the farmer suicide rate so high? Why don’t they have enough money and food? Are the natural calamities a result of our carelessness?
Lack of food leads to hunger, malnutrition and also death.
What can we do to achieve #ZeroHunger?
Don’t waste food, donate and serve to the possible extent.
We all LOVE food, so why not give the taste to the ones that hardly experience this.
