Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Rani Lakshmi Bai, etc. Well, there are so many freedom fighters.
What makes Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi stand out as a leader? Why is his picture on the Indian currency? How did his non-violent movement become so famous? Why is it a dry day on his birthday? Who is he?
Have you ever wondered about this?
At least today being Gandhi Jayanthi we can know about all this, which we usually do not give a thought about.
Will it help us? Should we care? Probably it can motivate us or at least we can learn something.
Gandhiji or Bapu as we all know was an iconic personality. He gave up everything to make India free and an independent country. He contributed in expanding women’s rights, ending untouchability, abolition of salt tax and bringing Swaraj- self rule.
Only his confidence and doughtiness made him achieve so much. The strong will and the power to not look back. Thats what it takes to be a leader!
We may not be wearing Khadi or Indian clothes. But at the least we could do this day is, take a moment to know the significance of this day as a token of respect or ask ourselves what can we do for others or atleast ourselves if not for the country.
“My life is my message.”
