New year?
I’ve seen so many posts about people feeling how quickly the year passed by.
Are you sure it went that quick?
Think about it again.
The whole hard work you put in for your final exams. Maybe, now you’d say “Oh, I didn’t work hard enough for the finals. But, I wonder how I got good marks. Imagine, I put in actual efforts. Then I’d have been the topper.”
But you did put in efforts. Maybe the last week before the exam or maybe the night before.
Don’t say you didn’t.
After the exams, when you went for the farewell party.
You might say it was just another party. Nothing great and was just so normal and formal.
You did have a lot of fun.
Don’t say you didn’t.
The whole summers you said or thought you wasted. They weren’t boring. You relaxed and that is happiness. You felt comfortable wearing those pyjamas and lying on the couch.
Even that trip you went for, with your family, it was an amazing thing that happened, away from your daily school schedule.
Also, when you prepared for your entrances or were in the fix to decide what you want to study, it wasn’t boring. Those efforts that went into understanding what you like and the career you want to live with for the rest of your life was challenging.
The whole counselling you received about enjoying and being happy to study your interest to be happy was worth, even if it was a little.
Don’t say it was a waste.
Finally when you joined new colleges or the next year of school, you were starting a new. You decided to be someone else or the better you. When those first days were just so different and the formality in front of your new friends gave you a new experience. The new person you tried portraying to your new friends, closing the doors of the past path you walked on. It was beautiful.
You missed your old friends, though still in contact virtually.
You managed to fit in and adjust wherever you are. It was an adventure.
Don’t say it was not.
Lastly, the whole November and December months. With lots of events, programs and holidays.
Don’t say nothing happened.
Don’t say it was quick. It was a long adventure.
It’s not the end. You say, it’s the end of the year. I say, it’s a new beginning. Every day is another chance.
But new year, if that’s what it takes to get motivated. Then why not?
